Singapore team coach: 'We will score against Vietnam'
Sundramoorthy believes that the Vietnamese team's defense is having problems and his strikers will exploit this weakness in the final match of the Four Nations tournament today, June 6.
In the opening match of the Four Nations friendly tournament in Yangon, Singapore defeated host Myanmar with the only goal of Farris Ramli to win the right to the final with Vietnam. However, coach Sundramoorthy was still not really satisfied, he said that the home team should have taken advantage of the opportunity better, won more convincingly.
During the afternoon training session on June 5 at Aung San Stadium, Coach Sundramoorthy had his team practice attacking very carefully in a small area. The 50-year-old strategist wanted his students to quickly move the ball towards the opponent's goal and shoot as soon as there was space. At the end of the training session, Coach Sundramoorthy confidently declared that Singapore would score a goal in the final match against Vietnam.

“Singapore was unlucky in scoring against Myanmar. However, this is also normal in football. When I was a player, I also had bad days in front of the opponent's goal. But after the match, I remained optimistic, focused and told myself that the next match will be better, the goal will come,” coach Sundramoorthy shared.
“I have a lot of confidence in my players. If they play to their potential, the goals will come. However, the most important thing is to win, so if we win 1-0 I will still be very satisfied.”

In the opening match, Vietnam's defense did not play well, making mistakes that allowed Hong Kong to score two goals, forcing the match into a penalty shootout (coach Huu Thang's team won 4-3). Following this match, former Singapore coach PN Sivaji said that Vietnam's defense system was not strong, and could be completely penetrated by the Lion Island's strikers.
“Vietnam’s two central defenders did not play well against Hong Kong and they will probably be defeated again in the final. Scoring is not a big problem for Singapore because it is difficult for the opponent to fix the defense after only 48 hours. Singapore must attack low because the Vietnamese players are quite good in the air,” said PN Sivaji.
“Vietnam are a very good team at passing the ball quickly. Their attacks are dangerous and effective, especially when they have the ball in the penalty area. To win, Singapore’s defense will have to be careful about this,” said the man who is currently the technical director for Hantharwardy United.Myanmar added.
