Coach Hua Hien Vinh: 'This defeat is a lesson for me'
Speaking after the 0-1 loss to U20 Syria, coach Hua Hien Vinh said this was a lesson for him and other teams.
On the evening of September 29, the U20 Vietnam team unfortunately lost to U20 Syria with a score of 0-1. Coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team no longer have the right to decide whether to continue to the 2025 U20 Asian Cup finals. Evaluating the match, coach Hua Hien Vinh said:
“As you know, U20 Vietnam only needs 1 point to advance, so I let the team play defensively and counterattack. However, we conceded a goal in a very unfortunate situation. U20 Vietnam still has a chance but we have to wait for luck.”
“In this match, if you want to get a ticket to the Final Round, you have to take risks. The players followed the tactics well, but unfortunately the ball hit a U20 Vietnam player and flew into the net in a set piece situation,” said coach Hua Hien Vinh. The two central midfielders of U20 Vietnam played well, spreading the ball, circulating and locking down the opponent’s midfield.
I think the Vietnamese midfielders have done their job. Football has wins and losses, I told the players that the road is long, there are still opportunities. This defeat is a lesson for me and the teams. If we go further, we need to make adjustments to play better.
Meanwhile, player Quang Duyet was very regretful about this loss: ''The team followed the tactics set by the coaching staff. U20 Vietnam played well in the first half. It was very regrettable to concede a goal in the second half. After conceding the goal, we tried to push up to find opportunities but could not score''.
On the other side of the front line, Syria U20 coach Mohamad Akil also had an assessment of this match: “Vietnam U20 is well organized, has a good coaching staff, knows what to do. We found it difficult to play against Vietnam U20, but the players were patient and followed the tactics.
