In the post-match press conference, coach Akira Nishino admitted that U22 Thailand could not beat Vietnam at the 30th SEA Games. The Japanese coach said: “This result is deserved for both teams. We did not start this tournament well, but the more we played, the better we performed.”
Besides, the Japanese coach objected to the referee's decision to award a penalty to U22 Vietnam: "We respect the referee's decision, it is the final decision. However, I think that penalty is wrong."

Finally, coach Akira Nishino admitted that Thai football is lagging behind Vietnam: “Actually, I know Mr. Park Hang-seo well. We have to learn from Vietnamese football. Besides, Thai football also has to improve further.”

Regarding the first goal conceded, Coach Park said it was Van Toan's fault: "The goalkeeper was the one who made the mistake. We will analyze this situation again to find out where the mistake was. However, Toan played well in today's match."
Explaining the reason why Tien Linh did not take the penalty from the beginning, the Korean coach said: "Tan Sinh takes good penalties but today he did not take them successfully. I did not want to put pressure on him so I gave Tien Linh the opportunity to take the penalty again."
Regarding Quang Hai’s injury, Coach Park said: “Quang Hai is trying to recover from his injury. The press has given a lot of wrong information. He was absent in the semi-finals but can play in the final. Tomorrow, we will officially announce Quang Hai’s injury.”
