On the afternoon of September 22, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the Project to preserve and promote folk performing arts of ethnic minorities in Nghe An province for the period 2018 - 2025. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee: Le Xuan Dai, Le Minh Thong, Huynh Thanh Dien chaired the meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of departments, branches and sectors in the province. |
The meeting heard the Department of Culture and Sports present the draft project. According to the report, Nghe An province has 5 ethnic minorities, with 466,137 people (accounting for 15.2% of the population) residing in 11 districts and towns. The province's ethnic minorities have created many cultural values and folk performing arts with strong identities.
Under the multi-dimensional impact of socio-economic life, many good traditional cultural values of the people have been lost, many types of folk performing arts have been gradually forgotten. The number of artisans and people who understand folk culture and art is very small, and concentrated in the elderly group, so the risk of loss is very high.
The project aims to identify the characteristics, position and role of folk performing arts of Nghe An ethnic minorities; the current status of preserving and promoting folk performing arts; viewpoints, goals and solutions to preserve and promote folk performing arts.

The general objective of the project is to preserve and promote the values of folk performing arts of ethnic minorities, bringing ethnic minorities of Nghe An province out of the state of oblivion and loss of cultural identity, and joining in the movement of building and developing cultural life in localities. At the same time, increase State investment, promote socialization of cultural activities, mobilize all resources to build, consolidate and develop a synchronous and appropriate system of cultural institutions.
The project has two phases, 2018 - 2020 and 2020 - 2025, with specific goals and solutions such as inventory, restoration, construction of performance spaces, establishment and support of folk song, folk music, folk dance, and ritual clubs... The project's funding includes the State budget, contributions from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals. The total funding is over 27.2 billion VND.

After the comments and suggestions from the meeting participants, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee concluded by expressing his high agreement and emphasizing: This is a very important project that needs to be implemented soon. The Department of Culture and Sports needs to complete it soon for the Provincial People's Committee to approve. In the short term, the Provincial People's Committee agrees with the budget estimate requested by the project; in the long term, the province will allocate more funds to improve the level of cultural enjoyment in ethnic minority areas, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction./.
