Support for Vietnamese workers affected by fire in Taiwan
Overseas labor management requested the Taipei Office in Hanoi to facilitate the quick issuance of visas so that relatives of the injured workers can go to Taiwan to arrange funerals and take care of workers in emergency care.
According to information from the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs), after receiving information about the fire that occurred at Dai Vinh Gia Ly Transportation Company in Taiwan (China) at 10:00 a.m. on February 6, causing 6 Vietnamese workers to be injured, the Department directed companies involved in sending workers to work abroad to contact the victims' families to visit and support procedures to go to Taiwan (China).
The Department of Overseas Labor Management also requested the Taipei Office in Hanoi to facilitate the quick issuance of visas so that relatives of the injured workers can go to Taiwan (China) to arrange funerals and take care of workers in emergency care in the hospital.
According to the Vietnamese Labor Management Board in Taiwan, the fire broke out on the second floor of the warehouse of Dai Vinh Gia Ly Transportation Company, Quan Am District, Taoyuan City.
All 6 workers involved in the accident were working overtime during the Tet holiday for Dai Vinh Gia Ly Transport Company. This company does not have a license to accept foreign workers.
The Vietnamese Labor Management Board in Taiwan has contacted Taiwanese authorities to learn about the incident and requested an investigation to clarify the case; requested the employer to compensate appropriately as well as coordinate to resolve the employee's funeral.
The Vietnamese Labor Management Board in Taiwan also sent officials to the hospital to visit the injured workers in this fire./.
