(Baonghean.vn) - While leading her cows in the rain, Ms. Bui Thi Hoa in Thung Mon village, Dong Van commune, Tan Ky district was struck and killed by lightning. The young mother passed away at the age of 29, leaving behind her husband, two young children and great pain for those left behind.

We visited Bui Thi Hoa’s family on the morning of May 13 - two days after her accident. In the small house in Thung Mon hamlet, many relatives, neighbors, and local authorities had come to prepare to take Hoa to her final resting place.

Looking at her two young children, no one could hold back their tears. The two children sat blankly beside their mother's coffin, crying silently. On the bed, Hoa's mother had a stroke and had been fainting for several days because of the great pain.

Through an exchange with Mr. Phan Duc Quang - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, it was learned that Ms. Hoa is the eldest child in a family of 4 children. The family is one of the poor households in the commune. Her father passed away when Hoa was only 8 years old. Understanding her mother's hardship, Hoa struggled with life early and was a solid support for her mother in the most difficult times. Because she was too poor and had many children, her mother worked too much and became ill. Currently, Ms. Hoa's mother has a stroke and cannot do anything.

At the age of 19, Ms. Hoa married Mr. Ngan Van Hao, an ethnic minority in a poor rural area in Quy Chau district. Both sides of her family were poor, so to take care of her sick mother, Ms. Hoa discussed with her husband about moving to her mother's hometown in Dong Van commune, Tan Ky district to live. Currently, the couple has two children: Ngan Thi Ngoc Thuy, 10 years old, and Ngan Van Hoang, 8 years old.

The couple struggled day and night to make a living, but still had some days of hunger and some days of fullness. However, Ms. Hoa never once complained about her fate, but silently worked hard to raise her children and take care of her mother. The neighbors all praised her for being diligent, kind, and hard-working.

As the children grew older, the couple discussed buying land to build a house. Then, thanks to borrowing from relatives, the family had a small house. After finishing the house, they were in debt, so the husband decided to go to Laos to work to earn money to pay off the debt. They thought that all the difficulties would pass, as long as they tried hard, they would be rewarded, but who would have thought...

On the fateful day of May 11, from 4am, Ms. Hoa took a flashlight and went to plow her family's sugarcane field so that the next morning she would have time to hoe grass for her neighbors to earn extra income. In the evening, seeing that it was about to rain, she immediately ran home, saw her family's cow tied in an empty lot about 100m from her house, she hurriedly went out to lead the cow back to the barn.

At that time, it was raining and thundering continuously. After walking a short distance, lightning struck and killed both the man and the cow. The two children in the house saw their mother lying on the other side of the road and ran out to help her up but could not, so they ran to call the neighbors.

Hearing the news that his wife was struck by lightning and died, Mr. Ngan Van Hao immediately returned home to mourn his wife. As soon as he saw his wife, he fainted…

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chat - hamlet chief of Thung Mon hamlet, Dong Van commune, Tan Ky district said:After hearing the news that Ms. Hoa was struck by lightning and died, despite the heavy rain, the village committee, relatives, and neighbors organized a bath and burial on the night of May 11. However, because Ms. Hoa's husband was working far away in Laos and had not returned yet, it was not until 5:00 p.m. on May 12 that Ms. Hoa's husband returned home and organized the burial for her.

Party Committee, People's Committee of Dong Van communewas present in time to visit, encourage and initially support the family with 2 million VND for the funeral of Ms. Hoa. The locality will report to the superiors to have a plan to support and help the family overcome the loss as well as the immediate difficulties.

Ms. Bui Thi Hoa passed away, leaving her two young children and her sick mother without anyone to care for them while their father continues to travel to make a living and pay off debts. We sincerely hope that philanthropists, organizations, and individuals will help the family both materially and spiritually to overcome this great pain.
