Panic at discovering a mine under the car

Mr. T. D. N., residing in Tay Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, said that at around 8:00 p.m. on September 8, he went to the parking lot and accidentally discovered under his car an object as big as a grapefruit and emitting smoke.

When he picked it up, he saw a slow burning fuse about 3cm long. He took the strange object into the house and turned on the light to see. Mr. N. was horrified to see that the strange object was a spherical mine, weighing about 0.2kg.

Immediately after that, Mr. N. reported the incident to the commune police. He also stated that he and his family had not had any conflicts with anyone recently. This incident made the family very confused and scared.

On September 10, Mr. Duong Xuan Thao - Head of Tay Thanh Commune Police, Yen Thanh District said: "After receiving the information, the commune police went to the scene to make a record and report to superiors to coordinate the settlement. We think that if the mine had exploded that day, the incident would have been very serious."
