Students in Nghe An will return to school on August 25th.
The first day of school for students in Nghe An takes place about 10 days before the official opening ceremony. This allows schools ample time to prepare for the new school year and helps students feel relaxed and less stressed.
On August 18th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 2641/QD-UBND on the academic year schedule for 2025-2026 for preschool education, general education, and continuing education applicable in Nghe An province.
Accordingly, for the 2025-2026 school year, the entire education sector will hold the back-to-school ceremony on August 25, 2025.Opening CeremonyIt will be held on September 5, 2025. The start of the school year for students in Nghe An is nearly a week later than in many other provinces and cities nationwide.

According to the school year plan, the first semester will end before January 18, 2026, and the curriculum will be completed, ending the school year before May 31, 2026.
The process of recognizing the completion of the primary school program and the awarding of lower secondary school diplomas will be completed before June 30, 2026.
The province will complete the enrollment process for entry-level classes before July 31, 2026.
The 2026 high school graduation exam is expected to take place on June 11th and 12th, 2026.
In addition, other national-level examinations are organized according to the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training. Provincial-level examinations, competitions, and sports events are organized according to the guidelines of the Department of Education and Training.
According to the decision of the Provincial People's Committee, the number of actual school weeks must be 35 weeks (18 weeks in the first semester and 17 weeks in the second semester).

Public holidays are observed according to the Labor Code and annual guiding documents. Teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer break or may be arranged intermittently at other times of the year to suit the specific situation and the school year schedule of Nghe An province.
During the implementation process, the Department of Education and Training will advise the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on decisions regarding school closures and extensions of the school year in special circumstances; decisions on school closures in cases of extreme weather conditions or natural disasters, and arrangements for make-up classes; and announcements of exam schedules and guidance for provincial-level exams and competitions.
