Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs provides information on more than 2,200 martyrs

(Baonghean.vn) - This is the information announced by the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs (HTGĐLS) of Nghe An province at the 6th Executive Committee Meeting held on the afternoon of December 26. Attending the meeting were representatives of the leaders of the Departments of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and Home Affairs.

Conference overview.

In 2016, the Association provided advice on searching for martyrs' remains for 16 cases; provided information on martyrs who died on battlefields to districts, cities and towns for 2,215 cases; directly handled 97 cases and advised on policies and mechanisms for 55 cases; supported 1 case of DNA testing; organized a number of martyrs' families to burn incense and offer flowers at a number of cemeteries in and outside the province.

In particular, the Association has supported the construction of 48 new gratitude houses with a total amount of 2.4 billion VND, supported the repair of 7 houses with a total amount of 100 million VND; supported the construction and upgrading of martyr cemeteries in some localities with a total amount of 750 million VND.

The association also donated 80 bicycles and 20 wheelchairs worth 195 million VND; donated 36 savings books worth 225 million VND; donated 465 gifts worth more than 495 million VND... In 2016, the total amount of money the association supported was nearly 4.2 billion VND.

In 2017, the Provincial Association of War Invalids and Martyrs issued a plan to organize activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - 2017); at the same time, focusing on promoting the role and position of the Association; searching for information about martyrs; supporting relatives of martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; improving the quality of activities of the Provincial Association and consolidating and expanding the establishment of branches and developing members.

At the conference, 1 organizing member, 3 groups and 3 individuals were honored to receive Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Association of Martyrs and Martyrs for their outstanding achievements in activities honoring martyrs in 2016.
