Scientific conference "Comrade Vo Nguyen Hien with the Vietnamese revolution and his homeland Nghe An"

Attending the conference were Associate Professor Dr. Tran Minh Truong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh Institute and leaders of the Party, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and scientific researchers, high schools and the family of comrade Vo Nguyen Hien.

Comrade Vo Nguyen Hien was the 14th generation descendant of the Vo family in Hau Luat village, Dien Binh commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province; a communist soldier of the previous generation of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

At the age of 85 (1890-1975), with more than 60 years of revolutionary activities, he was assigned to hold many important positions of the Party and State such as: Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee (1934); Secretary of Central Region Party Committee (1935-1936); Chairman of Nghe An Provincial Resistance Committee (1945); Head of the Land Reform Correction Committee of Nghe An Province (1956); Chief Inspector of Nghe An Province (1957-1963).

In all positions, comrade Vo Nguyen Hien always showed himself to be an exemplary leader, absolutely loyal to the Party's revolutionary cause, excellently completing assigned tasks, and was honored to be awarded the Gold Star Order and many other noble orders and medals by the Party and State.

Comrade Vo Nguyen Hien’s activities and contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation are enormous. However, due to the circumstances of working secretly for many years, scattered and lost documents, etc., the objective assessment and affirmation of those contributions have not been thorough and not truly worthy of his role and contributions to the Party and the Vietnamese revolution.

The scientific conference “Comrade Vo Nguyen Hien with the Vietnamese revolution and his homeland Nghe An” is a practical activity to contribute to affirming and evaluating more clearly the stature and activities and contributions of Comrade Vo Nguyen Hien to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

At the conference, 14 presentations clarified the influence of family tradition, lineage, and hometown in shaping the personality of comrade Vo Nguyen Hien; his life of revolutionary activities and his contributions when holding important positions in the Party and State.

The opinions and discussions at the conference continued to supplement new documents, thereby affirming and more clearly evaluating the stature and activities and contributions of comrade Vo Nguyen Hien to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation as well as his homeland Nghe An.
