Workshop on population issues with socio-economic development of Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - The workshop is within the framework of the Cooperation Program between the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of the ministerial-level project "Some population issues in socio-economic development of Nghe An province".
On the morning of June 30, the Institute for Family and Gender Studies coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology to organize a scientific workshop on "Some issues on Nghe An population in sustainable socio-economic development".

At this workshop, many issues on population and economic development in Nghe An were shared by the delegates. Among them, many issues were mentioned such as the impact of population on the economic and social development of Nghe An province; the issue of population structure and quality; the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on the issue of labor and employment development in Nghe An at present.
Also at the workshop, a number of other presentations mentioned the issue of the relationship between population and development, the orientation of population development in Nghe An in relation to the goal of sustainable socio-economic development of the province; issues of population policy and management...

Through discussions and comments, delegates also made recommendations on population work in Nghe An such as promoting family planning, especially in rural areas, improving population quality early, improving the quality of general education, developing vocational training, and adapting to population aging. In addition, encouraging investment, promoting industrialization, promoting rural-urban migration, and strongly shifting labor towards modernity.

At the same time, develop and implement a mechanism to integrate population factors into strategies, planning, plans, and socio-economic development projects of the sector and each field, ensuring the principle that people are the center of development.
The workshop also aimed to analyze some characteristics of the size, structure, distribution and population shift of Nghe An province from 2009 to present.

In addition, analyze population issues in implementing the goal of sustainable socio-economic development by 2030. On that basis, propose solutions to promote population advantages in the process of socio-economic development and control negative issues and challenges arising from the social characteristics of the province.
