More than 10 years in prison for a group specializing in inter-district property theft

According to the indictment, from mid-May 2016 to May 2017 in Anh Son, Thanh Chuong and Tan Ky districts, the subjects Doan Van Khanh (born in 1991) in Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district; Vo Van Chien (born in 1988) in Lang Son commune, Anh Son district; Phan Van Than (born in 1992) in Dai Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district; Ho Huu Luc (born in 1985) in Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district had many previous convictions for theft. Taking advantage of people's carelessness and lack of vigilance, this group committed 11 thefts, including 8 motorbike thefts, 1 theft of 3 goats, and 2 house break-ins to steal a pair of water hyacinths in Tan Ky district and neighboring districts with a total property value of over 100 million VND.

The subject's trick is to take advantage of loopholes in people's property management, leaving motorbikes in deserted places, without locks or anti-theft locks to commit theft.

They target vehicles that are easy to break into such as Sirius, Wave, etc., then use a pliers to break the lock to steal it. Or they choose a time when the homeowner is away, pry open the door and break into the house to steal valuables such as money, phones, etc.

After committing the crime, the suspect quickly escaped, leaving no trace at the scene, causing significant difficulties for the investigation.

At the Investigation Agency, the defendants admitted all their criminal acts consistent with the testimony of witnesses, as well as consistent with other documents and evidence collected in the case file.

The jury sentenced Doan Van Khanh to 4 years and 6 months in prison, Phan Van Than to 4 years in prison, Ho Huu Luc to 18 months in prison, and Chu Anh Quyen to 6 months in prison.

In addition to the compensation they previously paid to the victim, the total remaining amount they must pay is 46,700,000 VND./.
