More than 300 Yen Thanh residents participate in flood and storm prevention drills
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 24, the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command of Yen Thanh district organized a flood and storm prevention and search and rescue drill in 2017.

In the hypothetical scenario, a super strong storm is moving and evolving with severe destruction, directly affecting the Central region in general and Yen Thanh district in particular. The measured rainfall is from 700 - 800mm, causing a landslide of 15 meters of Ma To dam, strong gusts of wind and heavy rain also directly affect the lives, activities and production of hundreds of households downstream of the dam body of Tan Thanh commune and surrounding areas.

Faced with the above situation, Tan Thanh commune mobilized more than 300 people from the mobile militia platoon, self-defense militia, commune police, and people from Tan Binh, Tan Vinh, and Tan Nhan hamlets to prepare 2 bamboo boats, dozens of hoes, shovels, many life jackets, life jackets, more than 20 blocks of boulders, 5 trucks, 30 modified vehicles, 50 wheelbarrows... to fix the problem of leakage and anti-erosion; search and rescue, rescue, and provide first aid to people affected by storms and floods in the dam area.
Thanks to the good preparation of flood and storm prevention plans according to the "4 on-site" motto, after just over 20 minutes, the 15m-long landslide at Ma To dam was overcome, mended, and handled promptly, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles, and was ranked excellent by Yen Thanh district.

Through the drill, Yen Thanh district has drawn lessons in disaster prevention, search and rescue, raising awareness and vigilance among the people to minimize damage caused by natural disasters and weather.
