Nghe An has a long border, complex terrain, adjacent to the “Golden Triangle” area – one of the “hot spots” for drug production and trafficking in the world. Therefore, the crime and drug situation in the area still has many potential complex factors.

Over the past time, the province has always identified the workdrug preventionis an important political task. All levels, sectors and functional forces have made efforts, persistently and resolutely implemented many preventive and combat measures, but drug criminals have continuously changed their methods and tricks of operation to avoid detection and handling, and the risk of drugs entering the community, especially the youth, is always present. This reality poses an urgent need to mobilize the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire population, in which propaganda, advocacy, education and raising awareness of drug prevention and control in the community play an important role.
