Towards 'Real teaching, real testing and real quality'
The 2024-2025 school year is the final year of the textbook implementation cycle according to the 2018 General Education Program. In anticipation of exams under the new Program, schools have proactively changed teaching, learning, testing and assessment methods.
Developing learners' qualities and abilities
The lessons of teachers and students of Quang Trung Secondary School (Vinh City) are now not limited to the classroom. Instead, students are exposed to many different spaces to have many interesting and lively experiences. These activities have encouraged and guided students to be proactive and positive in their studies, contributing to the development of their qualities and abilities. Most recently, in their History lessons, students of Quang Trung Secondary School visited the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum, Vinh Prison (Vinh City), and Dong Loc T-junction (Ha Tinh).
In addition, with the effective support of Internet connection, Quang Trung Secondary School students also had an interesting connecting lesson with students from two schools in Vinh City and Que Phong District; and students from a secondary school in Japan.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Lan - Principal of Quang Trung Secondary School shared: The new program with the goal of developing students' capacity, changing the teaching method from knowledge transfer to comprehensive development education, requires schools and teachers to also change the teaching method, the way of implementing lectures, applying artificial intelligence, information technology in daily educational activities, searching for information, creating questions, tests... From there, creating rich and diverse types of exercises and lessons for all students.
Vinh City is one of the leading units in implementingGeneral education program 2018. Innovation in teaching and learning is emphasized when schools encourage teachers to use active teaching methods and techniques, apply information technology; lessons are built into activities with flexible goals, content, learning products and implementation methods for students to do in the classroom, outside the classroom, at school, at home...
Thanks to the implementation of the new program, students' learning and training results have had many positive changes. Thus, the goal of developing students' qualities and abilities according to the program has initially been affirmed, creating trust among teachers, students, parents and society.

In Do Luong district, to maintain the top quality of education in the province, the district's education sector has also promptly issued instructions on teaching methods to "adapt" to the new situation. Accordingly, educational institutions have proactively developed school education plans according to the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program, in accordance with the school's conditions. At the same time, focusing on developing students' qualities and abilities; being flexible in organizing educational activities, experiential activities... so that students can accumulate knowledge from life, teaching and learning are closely linked to application in real life.
Challenge the "new" exam
Along with positive changes, 2025 is also the first year of implementing exams according to the 2025 General Education Program. Of which, the two most interested exams are the 10th grade entrance exam and the high school graduation exam.
Before these two exams, the Education sector had a trial step when organizing the provincial excellent student exam for 9th and 12th grade students with the exam questions being made close to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training. After this exam, many teachers and students highly appreciated the innovations of this year's exam, especially in the way the questions were made. The exam questions approached the purpose of the new general education program, which focused on promoting students' abilities. The questions in the exam were all practical, highly applicable, not heavy on calculation, creating excitement for students when doing the test.

The initial results of the excellent student exams are also the basis for the Nghe An Department of Education and Training and specialized departments to gain more experience to prepare for the upcoming exams. During the exam organization, teachers, students and schools also have the opportunity to rub shoulders, exchange and learn.
In anticipation of the exam according to the new program, the Department of Education and Training has asked professional groups and teachers to proactively develop teaching and review plans suitable to the conditions of each school and group of students, classifying student levels to organize appropriate review. In addition, it is necessary to diversify the forms and increase the number of regular tests and assessments to evaluate the process and progress of learners.
Nghe An Department of Education and Training also requested departments to gradually compile objective multiple-choice questions according to competency assessment in the form of "true/false multiple-choice" and "short answer multiple-choice" according to the structure of the 2025 high school graduation exam of the Ministry of Education and Training for use in teaching and assessment. The Department invited the Ministry to train all teachers to get familiar with how to create questions and guide them in building a system of questions to serve teaching and learning.

With the above initiative, schools in Nghe An have prepared themselves for the exams according to the new general education program. The biggest difficulty now is that the Ministry of Education and Training has not yet "finalized" the subject selection plan for the 10th grade entrance exam.
For 12th grade students, in addition to the pressure of the first High School Graduation Exam according to the new textbooks, they also have pressure from separate university exams such as aptitude tests, thinking tests, foreign language certificate exams, and international certificates.
Exams are a measure to assess the quality of teaching and learning in schools.
On the part of the education sector, this year will carry out quality assurance assessments at both high school and middle school levels, thereby improving the quality of teaching in schools and preparing for exams to ensure "real teaching, real exams and real quality".
