Ky Son district meets with 5 border districts of Laos

(Baonghean.vn) - Morning of May 27, Ky Son district(Nghe An)Organized a 5-month meeting with Noong Het, Muong Moc, Muong Kham, and Muong Quan districts - Lao PDR.

Overview of the conference.

At the conference, the districts reported and informed about the results achieved in the first 5 months of 2016. In particular, Ky Son district (Nghe An) successfully organized the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term; the economy in all districts has had quite good development.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Hoang - Chairman of Ky Son District People's Committee spoke at the conference.

The districts have created favorable conditions for businesses and traders to trade and exchange goods through border gates and openings. Border security and order along the border are stable.

However, the total import-export turnover through Nam Can International Border Gate in the first 5 months of the year only reached 14 million USD, down 58.1% compared to the same period in 2015, due to Laos applying a number of new policies on import tax and regulations on wood export.

The districts agreed on the contents that need to be focused on and coordinated in the last 7 months of the year, such as: Strengthening propaganda for people on both sides of the border not to exploit forest products illegally; cooperating in forest fire prevention and fighting; preventing the trade of herbicides of unknown origin; paying attention to implementing steps to open a secondary border gate at the Ai Khe (Muong Ai, Ky Son, Nghe An) - Xam Che (Loong Ho, Muong Moc, Xieng Khoang) opening; regularly informing each other, directing the final resolution of issues arising on the border, supporting each other in socio-economic development.
