Ky Son district held meetings with localities of neighboring Laos that share the border.
On the morning of June 21, in Ky Son district, the regular meeting for the first 6 months of 2024 took place between Ky Son district (Nghe An) and the districts: Noong Het, Muong Moc, Muong Kham, Muong Pet (Xieng Khouang province), Muong Quan district (Hua Phan province) and Nam Can International Border Gate cluster.

At the conference, leaders of Ky Son district (Nghe An) and representatives of districts in Lao provinces sharing the border exchanged views on socio-economic development, national defense and security, political system building, and the fight against cross-border crimes (especially drug crimes, criminal offenses, smuggling and trade fraud, etc.). The two sides evaluated the results of cooperation in the first 6 months of the year.

Ky Son is a particularly difficult border area of Nghe An province, located 250 km from Vinh city. With a natural area of 209,264.5 hectares, including 203.409 km of land border.
The district has 20 communes and 1 town, of which 11 are border communes adjacent to Laos; there are 5 ethnic groups living together: Mong, Thai, Kho Mu, Kinh, Hoa.
Up to now, the budget revenue in the first 6 months of 2024 reached 13 billion VND, estimated at 55.3% of the plan assigned by the District People's Council; average income reached 24 million VND/person/year (data at the end of 2023).

The conference participants continued to affirm the tradition of special friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, "forever green - forever sustainable"; the sincere feelings, comradely and brotherly affection of the Party Committee, Government and People of Ky Son district and the Party Committees, Government and People of the sister districts, sharing the border and the Nam Can - Laos International Border Gate cluster.
At the conference, delegates from Laos also contributed many ideas and proposed to strengthen coordination between districts on issues of security, defense, trade, health, environment, education, etc. to further enhance the development of localities.

At the end of the conference, Ky Son district and districts sharing the border, twinned districts and Nam Can - Laos International Border Gate cluster agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the meeting contents; agreed on the meeting time for the last 6 months of 2024 to be held in Laos.
