One part of my dream is for my mother, one part I send to my country.

The small house in village 4, Quynh Giang commune, Quynh Luu district (old) still retains traces of floodwaters from less than a month ago. "The flood was so bad, my books were wet, but I could only keep a part of them, the rest were all wet," Vinh said in the calm voice of a student who was used to difficulties. In the third grade, he suffered the pain of losing his father. Since then, Le Thi Van, Vinh's mother, has raised her son with unstable jobs, from farming to taking on various jobs.

“I am very tired, but I have to endure it. I keep many things to myself for my child, but if I say them out loud, I am afraid my child will find out and be sad,” Ms. Van choked up.

Amidst all these difficulties, what makes the mother happiest and proudest is her son’s academic achievements. Vinh has always been an excellent student for many years. Outside of school hours, Vinh often takes extra classes. At home, he always diligently goes online to watch teachers re-examine the lessons he has learned and redo his exercises.

Due to difficult circumstances, afraid that his mother would not have enough money to send him to university, Vinh wanted to register for Military School 1. When asked about his dream, Vinh did not hesitate to share: "Partly because of his mother, partly because of his dream, I hope to contribute to the country."

As the greatest motivation and all hope of his mother, Vinh is always steadfast on the road ahead: "I am always determined, reminding myself not to give up."
