JICA guides the classification and preservation of Vinh oranges according to standards
(Baonghean.vn) -For the first time, orange farmers in Quy Hop (Nghe An) have been given specific instructions on classifying orange quality according to the standard table.
On December 21, a JICA expert team organized a brand development training course for some orange growing households in Quy Hop district.
The activity is part of the project to Support Consulting on Developing the Orange Product Value Chain through contracts between businesses, farmers and retail outlets.

In addition to advising farmers, JICA also supports market development for a number of businesses; in particular, it guides research on orange preservation methods so that they can be sold to tourists in the summer.
Previously, households classified oranges into type 1, type 2 and type 3 for sale in markets in Hanoi, Vinh City, etc. The classification of oranges was almost subjective, by direct observation in the garden when purchasing; farmers sold by fruit without following any regulations.
With traditional orange sorting, businesses have to sort again after purchasing, causing a lot of loss and waste.

The activities of JICA experts for orange farmers are very useful in the context of some new changes in the Vinh orange market.Recently, many farmers have switched to growing oranges with many different varieties to bring to the market. Oranges have become popular and become a daily fruit, so oranges grown in Nghe An are always sold at high prices.
JICA's guidance on understanding the market, classifying and preserving oranges appropriately to provide stable income for farmers is necessary./.
