After three days of beating a 10th grade female student, Le Tan Thanh, 29 years old, in Thu Dau Mot City, was prosecuted for investigation of the crime of Intentional Infliction of Injury, on December 10.

The move was made by Thu Dau Mot City Police after two days of criminal detention of the suspect. Thanh was prosecuted under Clause 1, Article 134 of the 2015 Penal Code, with a penalty ranging from non-custodial reform to 3 years, or imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years.

Criminal recordIntentional injuryWhen he beat his neighbor, causing 33% disability, he was sentenced to 8 years in prison. In 2015, due to good behavior, he was pardoned early and worked as a tricycle driver in Thu Dau Mot City.

According to the investigation, on the afternoon of December 7, Thanh was driving a motorbike with his girlfriend on Bui Ngoc Thu Street, Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City. While driving, he suddenly turned the motorbike around to cross the street without looking.

At that moment, two 10th grade students from Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School were riding an electric bike and crashed into Thanh’s car. The sudden collision also caused a woman on another motorbike to crash into her and fall over.

Thanh quickly walked towards the female student, repeatedly kicking and stomping on the 15-year-old girl's head and face. Then, he pulled out a three-section stick and beat and cursed at the victim. He only stopped when people tried to stop him. Some witnesses expressed their indignation, Thanh threatened before taking his girlfriend away from the scene.

When the video of the incident was posted online, many people were outraged and went to the suspect's residence and took him to the local police. At the investigation agency, Thanh admitted his actions, saying that he had "drank too much alcohol" beforehand.

The examination results determined that the female student had a long laceration on her head, requiring 10 stitches, and a 1% disability. The victim’s family has filed a petition to prosecute the case and the person who beat their child.
