Previously, on the evening of December 25, after drinking alcohol, Hoi broke into a house, destroyed property, set fire to his family's tea shop, then rushed out onto the street to block traffic at Nghi Son Economic Zone (Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa). When the police arrived, Hoi climbed onto the roof, cursed, then jumped from the roof and injured his leg.
After that, Hoi rode a motorbike from Nghi Son Economic Zone to Quynh Lap Central Dermatology and Leprosy Hospital (Hoang Mai town) to treat his wounds.
At around 3:45 a.m. on December 26, Hoi woke up to smoke a cigarette and was reminded by everyone in the hospital room. Angry, he set fire to the hospital bed, causing panic among the patients and doctors. Nurse Le Thi H., who was 3 months pregnant, tried to stop him but was assaulted, restrained, and had her clothes torn by Hoi.
