Thieves broke open the safe and took 230 million VND

Hearing the sound of a hammer hitting a metal object in broad daylight, Ms. Tuyet thought her neighbor was repairing a coffee grinder, but she did not expect that a thief was breaking into a safe.

On July 8, Lam Ha District Police (Lam Dong) are investigating a burglary case in which a thief broke into the house of Nguyen Van Canh (44 years old) and broke open a safe in broad daylight, stealing nearly 230 million VND.

Mr. Canh said that the day before, after his wife took their eldest son to Da Lat to take the National High School Exam, only their son Nguyen Huy Phong (16 years old) was left at home sleeping.

When he returned, Mr. Canh discovered that all the curtains in the house were down and many things had been ransacked. His son's bedroom was tied up with electric wires, making it impossible for Phong to get out.

The thief dragged the safe down to the factory behind, punctured it, and took nearly 230 million VND, leaving only the documents.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Mr. Canh's neighbor, said she heard the sound of a hammer hitting a metal object but thought Mr. Canh's family was repairing the coffee machine like every day so she did not go to see.
