Eximbank has just announced information that it must wait for the authorities to resolve according to regulations before proceeding with compensation for the loss of 245 billion VND in Ho Chi Minh City and 50 billion VND in Nghe An.

Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank) has just announced an unusual situation in handling two major complaints at the bank (customers lost deposits at Eximbank Ho Chi Minh City branch and Vinh branch).

Specifically, the most recent complaint is that Ms. Chu Thi Binh had her savings book of 245 billion VND withdrawn at the Ho Chi Minh City branch. In particular, the case shows signs of fraud by Mr. Le Nguyen Hung, former Deputy Director of Eximbank Ho Chi Minh City Branch. The next complaint is related to 6 customers who had their savings deposit of 50 billion VND withdrawn at the Do Luong Transaction Office - Eximbank Vinh Branch.

Recent money loss cases at Eximbank have caused concern among customers.

The bank said that it has been actively working with customers and the police to clarify the case. Some individuals involved in the two cases have been prosecuted or detained during the investigation.

In particular, the case at Do Luong Transaction Office - Eximbank Vinh Branch has been accepted by the People's Court of Nghe An province and is scheduled to be brought to trial on April 26. The bank said it will comply with the final, legally effective judgment of the court.

Regarding the case at Eximbank Ho Chi Minh City branch, the Ministry of Public Security's investigation police agency is still investigating, Eximbank is waiting for competent authorities to handle it according to the provisions of law.

Eximbank's leaders admitted that these scandals have significantly affected the bank's operations. In particular, Eximbank's mobilized capital and stock prices decreased in the first few days after the incident was reported. However, the bank said that it has now been operating normally and stably, and the mobilization situation and stock prices have followed the market trend and are no longer affected by the incident.

In addition, the impact of the above two cases on Eximbank's financial situation will depend on the final, legally effective judgment of the court. Eximbank cannot determine at this time. The bank said it will closely monitor the case and will continue to disclose information after the final judgment of the prosecution agency.

Previously, the police investigation agency prosecuted 5 employees of Eximbank Ho Chi Minh City branch related to the case of losing money of customer Chu Thi Binh, of which two were arrested. In particular, Mr. Le Nguyen Hung, former Deputy Director of Eximbank Ho Chi Minh City branch, fled abroad.
