Opening of the 'Rural Vietnam Marathon - Nghe An 2023: Returning to the region of Vi and Giam with Faith

(Baonghean.vn) - This is a very meaningful cultural, sports and tourism event, aiming to promote and introduce the beautiful and majestic natural landscape, rich and diverse cuisine and good traditional cultural values along with the friendliness and hospitality of the people of Nghe An province.

On the evening of August 19, the opening ceremony took place at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh city)."Rural Vietnam Marathon - Nghe An 2023: With Faith, return to the region of Vi and Giam".

Attending the opening ceremony, on behalf of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development, there were comrades: Ho Xuan Hung - former Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chairman of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyen Duc Quang - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development, Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Viet Magazine; Nguyen Tri Ngoc - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Nam Dinh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province.

Also attending the ceremony were members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; Thai Thi An Chung - Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.

The "Vietnam Rural Marathon - Nghe An 2023: With Faith to the region of Vi and Giam" race, jointly organized by Vietnam Rural Magazine and Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, is the first professional marathon taking place in Nghe An province, gathering the participation of more than 4,000 athletes, including 22 foreign athletes from 8 countries, competing in 4 distances: 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Head of the Organizing Committee of the "Rural Vietnam Marathon - Nghe An 2023: With Faith returning to the region of Vi and Giam" race affirmed: The "Rural Vietnam - Nghe An Marathon 2023: With Faith returning to the region of Vi and Giam" race is a very meaningful cultural, sports and tourism event, aiming to promote and introduce the majestic and beautiful natural landscape, rich and diverse cuisine and good traditional cultural values along with the friendliness and hospitality of the ethnic people in Nghe An province to a large number of domestic and international tourists.

This is not only a high-quality sports tournament, a large-scale, professional sports playground, but also has the meaning of contributing to educating revolutionary traditions and patriotism for all participating athletes, in order to promote the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the movement "Olympic Running Day for the health of all people".

"With the responsibility of being the coordinating organization, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has directed units in the province to enhance their responsibility in supporting the Vietnam Rural Magazine in organizing the event in a scientific, thoughtful and safe manner, with the desire to leave a deep impression on athletes and tourists about a friendly and hospitable Nghe An," the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed.

At the Opening Ceremony of the "Rural Vietnam Marathon - Nghe An 2023: With Faith to the region of Vi and Giam", delegates, athletes, tourists and locals enjoyed performances of Vi and Giam folk songs; interacted with some athletes participating in the race. The Organizing Committee also presented commemorative medals and flowers to congratulate the sponsors.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded 200 million VND to the fund to build houses for the poor in Nghe An province.
