Opening of the 9th Phu Dong Sports Festival Athletics Tournament
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 5, the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival Athletics Tournament officially opened.
Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Kim Lan - Deputy Director of the Department of High Performance Sports, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, Mr. Nguyen Huy Vinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An.

The 2016 National Phu Dong Sports Festival Athletics Tournament has 52 delegations with 620 athletes competing for 40 sets of medals for men and women.
After the opening ceremony, athletes competed in the following events: women's long jump, women's high jump, men's/women's 100m run, men's 400m run.
Tomorrow (August 6), athletes will continue to compete in high jump, shot put, long jump and running distances of 100m, 400m, 800m, 5000m and 4x100m relay.
