Opening of the 2nd Vietnam Tennis Tournament for Outstanding Tennis Players

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 17, the 2nd Vietnam Tennis Tournament for Excellent Tennis Players - Vietravel Cup 2017 officially opened in Vinh City.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Trong Ho - Director of Department of High Performance Sports II; Doan Quoc Cuong - Head of Tennis Department, Vietnam Tennis Federation.

On the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of Nghe An Tennis Federation; representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors of Nghe An province.

The Vietnam Tennis Tournament for Excellent Tennis Players - Vietravel Cup 2017 is organized by the Vietnam Tennis Federation VTF in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports and the Nghe An Tennis Federation NTF. This is the second national professional tournament held in Nghe An.

The tournament is one of the activities to celebrate the nation's major holidays. The tournament has 8 teams from provinces and cities across the country, with 21 athletes having the highest rankings on the latest national Ranking of the Vietnam Tennis Federation in 2017.

Athletes will compete in 4 categories: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles. Singles matches will be played in 3 sets to win 2 in professional format. Doubles matches will be played in 3 sets to win 2; 40-40 is a golden ball match, 5-5 is played to 7, 6-6 is a tie-break match, set 3 is a 10-point Super Tie-break match.

The tournament is held to evaluate professional skills and select outstanding athletes for the national team to participate in Davis Cup 2018, Fed Cup 2018, the 8th National Sports Festival 2018, Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018. At the same time, it is an opportunity to encourage the tennis training movement in Nghe An, contributing to promoting the image of Nghe An to audiences nationwide.

The tournament took place from December 17 to 22, 2017. The total prize value was up to 401 million VND - this is a record high prize of tournaments in the competition system of the Vietnam Tennis Federation in recent times.

The champion of the men's singles will receive a prize of up to 50 million VND; the champion of the women's singles, the champion of the men's doubles will receive a prize of 40 million VND, and the champion of the women's doubles will receive a prize of 30 million VND.
