Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh inspected the damage and directed the overcoming of the consequences of storm No. 10.

On the morning of September 29, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense directly inspected the damage caused by storm No. 10. Accompanying him were leaders of the Departments of Construction, Agriculture and Environment.

In Lam Thanh commune, the locality was heavily affected by heavy rain combined with strong winds from storm No. 10, causing flooding in many hamlets outside Ta Lam dike (old Chau Nhan commune).

At the time of inspection, hamlets 1, 2, 5 (formerly Hung Loi commune), hamlets 7, 8, 9, Phu Xuan (formerly Chau Nhan commune)... are being isolated by water, affecting 1,563 households with 5,170 people. The tide is forecast to rise this afternoon, combined with the incoming water, the water level may rise by about 40cm, making the risk of isolation increasingly serious.

Storm No. 10 caused the roofs of 3,900 households in the area to be blown off, all 12/12 schools were damaged, many teaching equipment were destroyed; the headquarters of the Commune People's Committee, Commune Police, Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee were all severely damaged; trees and electric poles were broken and scattered.

In Van An commune, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee continued to inspect vulnerable points. The locality has evacuated 202 households, with 383 people from unstable houses and areas at risk of landslides and flooding.

Some hamlets were partially flooded such as Ho Son, Truong Son, Bac Thung; landslides occurred in Khe Mit area (Truong Son hamlet) and along the Dao river bank (Sa Nam hamlet).

The material damage in the locality was also very heavy, according to preliminary statistics, more than 1,000 households had their roofs blown off and their houses damaged; 800 meters of fence collapsed; 22 public works such as schools, medical stations, and cultural houses were affected; Nam Dan Medical Center had the entire corrugated iron roof of the examination and treatment building, an area of ​​nearly 1,000 square meters, blown off.

On the afternoon of September 29, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh continued to inspect the damage caused by storm No. 10 in Dai Dong commune. Present at Thanh Linh Kindergarten, he directly witnessed the entire corrugated iron roof system being blown away by the storm, many other items were severely damaged, directly affecting the teaching and learning of teachers and students.

Not only schools, in the commune, many houses had their roofs blown off; traffic infrastructure, electricity, and agricultural production were also severely affected.

Currently, the Party Committee and the communal government are mobilizing forces to urgently count and review the extent of damage, and at the same time, deploy initial remedial measures so that people can soon stabilize their housing.

Immediately after the storm, local authorities and the entire political system continued to implement the "4 on-the-spot" motto. Police and military forces, along with commune and hamlet officials, quickly spread to the grassroots to focus on overcoming the consequences.

Fallen trees were urgently cleared from the roads to ensure traffic safety; low-lying areas were inspected and closely monitored to ensure people's safety. At the same time, damage statistics were urgently conducted... gradually bringing life back to normal.

Through field inspection, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the proactive spirit and drastic participation of Party committees, authorities, grassroots forces and people in responding to storm No. 10.

Thanks to timely and close direction and synchronous implementation of measures according to the "4 on-site" motto, damage was minimized, especially there was no loss of life.

However, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that we must not be subjective in the coming days, because the risk of rising water, landslides and epidemics after the storm still exists.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested localities to continue to mobilize all forces, concentrate efforts to overcome the consequences, give highest priority to isolated areas, policy families, single-parent families, ensure timely supply of essential necessities, not let any household go hungry, thirsty or be left behind; at the same time, it is necessary to increase the force on duty at key points, and prepare evacuation plans if bad situations occur.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested that, immediately after the water recedes, localities must urgently organize environmental sanitation and disease prevention. Stabilizing people's lives must be associated with quickly rebuilding production, restoring essential infrastructure works such as electricity, schools, medical facilities, and bringing life back to normal as soon as possible.

Not stopping at immediate solutions, through understanding the situation from practice, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need for fundamental, long-term solutions, researching optimal options to rebuild infrastructure in a safe, adaptive and sustainable direction to natural disasters.
