Opening of the month-long National Assembly session

At 9:00 a.m. this morning, the 2nd session of the 14th National Assembly solemnly opened at the National Assembly House in a meeting that was broadcast live on television and radio.

The National Assembly then listened to reports on the results of the implementation of the 2016 socio-economic development plan; the 2017 socio-economic development plan; a report synthesizing opinions and recommendations of voters and people; a report on the economic restructuring plan for the 2016-2020 period; a report on the 5-year financial plan; a report on the medium-term public investment plan for the 2016-2020 period...

According to the meeting agenda, the questioning time at this meeting is usually 2.5 days (November 7-9), while the time for socio-economic discussion is 1.5 days (November 1-2).

The National Assembly will spend time reviewing and discussing reports, including notable issues such as crime prevention and control, law enforcement, and corruption prevention and control in 2016; and overcoming consequences of marine environmental incidents.

In particular, on the afternoon of October 25, the National Assembly will meet separately to hear a report on the situation in the East Sea.

This session of the National Assembly is expected to consider and pass four draft laws on Associations, Beliefs, Religions, Property Auctions and the revised Penal Code.

The National Assembly will also give opinions on 12 other draft laws such as the revised Railway Law, Management and use of weapons, explosives and supporting tools, Support for small and medium enterprises, Revised management and use of state assets, Revised State compensation liability, Law on Security Guards, Law on Tourism...

According to Secretary General of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc, this session will create conditions to promote debate in the hall.

"Representatives of the law-making agencies, directly the ministers, will answer and discuss with the deputies. Deputies who want to debate will raise a sign asking to debate and will be facilitated by the chair," said Mr. Hanh Phuc.

The session will close on the afternoon of Wednesday (November 23).
