Opening of Qua Son Temple Festival 2017

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 16 (January 20 of the Dinh Dau year), Do Luong district solemnly held the opening ceremony of the Qua Son Temple Festival 2017.Attending the festival were representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, district leaders, many people and tourists from all over.

Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang was the 8th son of King Ly Cong Uan. In 1039, he was assigned by his father to govern the Hoan Chau Nghe An region. With his extraordinary intelligence, in 1044, he was promoted from the title of Marquis to the title of King, becoming Uy Minh Vuong. During his tenure, he had the merit of driving out foreign invaders, expanding the territory, and building the prosperous development of Hoan Chau region. In 1057, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang passed away and became a saint at the foot of Qua Mountain, now known as Qua Son Temple, in Boi Son Commune, Do Luong.

After 16 years as the Governor of Nghe An, with his great merits and contributions, after his death, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang was worshiped by the people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, who built many temples to burn incense every year in memory of him. The main temple is at Qua Son Temple in Boi Son commune today.

Every year on the 17th of December is his death anniversary, on the 19th and 20th of January is the Qua Son Temple festival.

Previously, Qua Son Temple had a scale of 7 buildings with 40 compartments in the architectural style of Ly Tran Dynasty. After many historical events, in 1952, the temple was bombed by French invaders, seriously damaged but the people still kept the statues and sacrificial objects. In December 1998, Qua Son Temple was recognized as a national historical relic.

In recent years, Do Luong district has focused on investing in renovation and upgrading to serve the spiritual and cultural needs of the people and tourists, and at the same time, it is a place to educate the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders and building the country of the ancestors. Qua Son Temple is an attractive spiritual and cultural tourist destination visited by the people and tourists.

This year, Do Luong district organized a procession from Qua Son Temple by waterway to give thanks at Ba But Pagoda in Lam Son commune. In the afternoon, the procession of the statue from Ba But Pagoda back to Qua Son Temple was held to settle it.
