Inauguration of Ngoc Thon parish church
(Baonghean.vn) - Starting construction and laying the first stone in May 2017, after more than 1 year of construction, Ngoc Thon parish church in Thuong Nam parish, Hong Long commune, Nam Dan district has just held an inauguration ceremony for the church.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Bishop Nguyen Thai Hop - Bishop of Vinh Diocese, invited priests and a large number of parishioners of Thuong Nam parish and non-church people from near and far.

Although it was established relatively long ago (1917), due to the small number of parishioners, before 1982, the parish only maintained religious activities in a small chapel built in 1940.
In 1982, the chapel was destroyed by a big storm, and since then the religious activities of the parish were interrupted. People moved to the Thuong Nam parish church (the parish house) about 500m away.
The church of the parish was built on an area of 136m2.2with a length of 17m, a width of 8m and a tower of 17m high, mainly contributed by parishioners, especially children living far away. After the inauguration, the church will meet the living needs of parishioners. From now on, the parishioners of Ngoc Thon have their own church, serving the growing living needs.
