Prosecution of subjects in gambling ring of over 20 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - A gambling ring in the form of buying and selling lottery numbers and football betting on the Internet via Zalo, Facebook, Telegram applications and lottery and lottery scoring software has just been dismantled, with 7 subjects arrested.
Previously, through the work of grasping the situation, around the beginning of January 2024, Quynh Luu District Police discovered a large-scale gambling ring in the form of recording lottery numbers, with the participation of many criminal suspects. Quynh Luu District Police haveestablish a special project to fight and destroy.
Through verification, the Investigation Committee identified the ringleader as Ho Van Chinh (born in 1985, residing in Quynh Nghia commune, Quynh Luu district). To deceive the authorities, the subjects used many sophisticated tricks, were extremely wary of strangers, frequently changed their methods of communication, and only received lottery numbers and betting boards through agents, not accepting individual bets.

After a period of monitoring and understanding the methods and tricks of the subjects, on April 10, 2024, the Task Force arrested the leader Ho Van Chinh and 6 subjects in the ring including: Ho Van Tam (born in 1971), Ho Huu Duyen (born in 1987), Truong Dac Tam (born in 1976), all residing in Quynh Nghia commune, Quynh Luu district; Hoang Phuc Gia (born in 1992), Ho Dien Thang (born in 1994) and Pham Dinh Dung (born in 1987), all residing in Quynh Luong commune, Quynh Luu district. The seized exhibits included 10 mobile phones.
Initially, the investigation agency proved that the amount of money the subjects gambled from March 13 to April 10, 2024 was 4.5 billion VND. Through exploiting electronic data on mobile phones and on gambling websites, the investigation agency estimated that the total amount of money in the gambling ring operating from the beginning of January 2024 to the time of arrest was more than 20 billion VND.

Currently, Quynh Luu District Police have issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute the above subjects for the crime of "Gambling".
