YouPhan Boi ChauHis real name was Phan Van San, his pen name was Sao Nam, born on December 26, 1867 in Sa Nam village, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, in a Confucian family with a rich tradition of patriotism.

Born and raised in a country under French colonial rule, Phan Boi Chau nurtured the desire to find a way to save the country and its people. That desire urged the son of Nam Dan to find a way to fight for revolution. During nearly 30 years of activities, regardless of hardship, difficulty and danger, Phan Boi Chau traveled all over the country and to China, Japan, Thailand... to carry out revolutionary activities.

With the policy of saving the country in a violent direction, Mr. Phan established Duy Tan Hoi, Viet Nam Quang Phuc Hoi and then Viet Nam Quoc Dan Dang to gather forces and seek foreign aid. Most notably, the Dong Du movement created the foundation for the country's changes in the early 20th century, contributing to the training of intellectuals ready to accept the path of proletarian revolution, and many of them later became key figures of the Vietnamese revolution.

On June 30, 1925, Phan Boi Chau was kidnapped by French colonialists in Shanghai (China) and then taken back to Vietnam, tried at the Hanoi Criminal Court and then exiled to Hue. On the morning of October 29, 1940 (September 29, Canh Thin year), he breathed his last at Ben Ngu slope.
