Celebrating one year of establishment of Vietnam Association for Support in Overcoming Consequences of Bombs and Mines
On the morning of November 11, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Association for Assistance in the Settlement of Bomb and Mine Action (VNASMA) held a ceremony to celebrate its first anniversary (November 11, 2014 - November 11, 2015).

Reporting on the results of activities in 2015 and the direction and plan of activities for the period 2016 - 2020, Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Soat, Chairman of VNASMA said that immediately after its establishment, VNASMA held a congress, approved the action program and operating regulations of the association. The association also soon completed the establishment of a website with the domain name vinasma.org.vn and is carrying out the necessary work to establish and upgrade it to an electronic news site in accordance with the provisions of law.
Over the past year, VNASMA has coordinated with the People's Committee of Ha Giang province to organize Tet gifts, support bomb and mine victims and propagate education on mine accident prevention in 3 communes of Vi Xuyen district with a total amount of 258 million VND; successfully organized a live television exchange with the theme "For a peaceful and developed life"; organized a survey to prepare for the organization of the association; supported victims and propagated mine and bomb prevention in some central provinces...

VNASMA also actively establishes and expands cooperative relationships with state agencies, leaders, local authorities; social organizations, international organizations operating in the field of overcoming the consequences of post-war bombs and mines... Up to now, VNASMA has 501 members.
In the coming time, VNASMA will continue to consolidate, improve and stabilize the staff, organization at the central level of the association, develop the membership; develop and issue a set of standard mine risk education documents for unified use in the association's work; proactively survey the level of mine pollution and its impact on people's lives and activities to have accurate and precise information; improve the effectiveness of mobilizing funding for the association's operating fund; propagate and mobilize governments of other countries, foreign non-governmental organizations, international individuals and organizations, domestic individuals and organizations to sponsor and support the association's activities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Phuong Minh Hoa conveyed the congratulations of General Phung Quang Thanh, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, to VNASMA and highly appreciated the results of the association's activities over the past year.
Senior Lieutenant General Phuong Minh Hoa suggested that in the coming time, VNASMA should continue to improve propaganda and education for people, especially students, on how to prevent and avoid bombs, mines, and explosives left over from the war; mobilize development on a larger scale, with more practical activities; fully count the number of bomb and mine victims, from which there will be appropriate support plans...
On this occasion, VNASMA announced the decision to establish branches in Ha Giang, Hanoi and some provinces in the Central region.
