Ky Son held a meeting with 4 border districts of Laos.

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 18, the leaders of Ky Son district (Nghe An) held a meeting to review the first 5 months of 2017 with the leaders of Noong Het, Muong Moc, Muong Kham districts, Xieng Khouang province and Muong Quan district, Hua Phan province, Laos.

In recent times, the political situation on both sides has been basically stable, building and protecting a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border; regularly organizing propaganda and education for people, especially relatives and people living along the border, to comply with the Border Regulations; coordinating and resolving well the issues arising along the border, at the same time creating favorable conditions, solidarity, exchange, economic and social development, and visiting relatives.

Ky Son and the border localities of Laos also regularly coordinate to grasp and update information on the migration situation to have measures to propagate, mobilize, and repatriate people in accordance with diplomatic practices, creating favorable conditions for people on both sides to exchange, trade, buy and sell goods, and learn from each other's economic development experiences, especially the purchase and sale of agricultural products of each side.

In the first 5 months of 2017, Nam Can International Border Gate Customs has processed entry procedures for 2,268 vehicles, exit procedures for 1,397 vehicles; 27,429 people exiting the country, 28,219 people entering the country. Total import-export turnover reached 3.4 million USD, of which export turnover reached 3.16 million USD, import turnover reached 240 thousand USD....

At the conference, the two sides agreed and committed to: Continue to propagate to the people on both sides of the border to seriously implement the Agreement on the national border regulations of Vietnam - Laos and create conditions for officials and people to visit relatives and exchange goods; direct 11 border communes of Ky Son district and clusters of villages along the border in the above districts of Laos to hold meetings to exchange information, promptly detect, handle and prevent violations of border regulations.

The functional forces of the two sides coordinate to increase bilateral patrols, clear border sight lines; strengthen coordination in controlling construction works along the border; manage the trade and transportation of livestock and poultry across the border to prevent the spread of epidemics and step up propaganda work, prevent illegal migration, border crossings, and illegal proselytizing activities in villages and hamlets along the border of the two countries.

In particular, the functional forces of the two sides focus on coordinating the arrest of criminals; controlling smuggling and trade fraud; and preventing opium re-planting...

The meeting is held twice a year, the first 5 months of 2017 were held in Ky Son and at the end of the year it was held alternately in the border district of Laos.
