Ky Son exchanges with districts of neighboring Laos
(Baonghean.vn) - The regular meeting between Ky Son and districts sharing the border with Laos (held in Ky Son district in the first 5 months of the year, and held alternately in districts of Laos at the end of the year) is an opportunity to consolidate and further enhance the special comprehensive friendship between Ky Son and districts of Laos.
On the morning of May 23, Ky Son district held a regular meeting with Noong Het, Muong Moc, Muong Kham districts of Xieng Khouang province and Muong Quan district of Hua Phan province of Laos.

Comprehensive coordination in all fields
At the conference, delegates heard representatives of the districts report on the socio-economic development situation, issues related to security and order on the border, and evaluate the results of cooperation in maintaining political security, social order and safety, and ensuring sovereignty of the border.
In recent times, there has been comprehensive coordination between the districts in all areas of economy, culture, education, health, political security, social order and safety. Thereby, creating favorable conditions for functional branches and agencies, units, and localities to organize meetings, exchange experiences, and coordinate to resolve and handle issues of mutual concern.
Economic cooperation between Ky Son district and districts sharing the border with Laos has been constantly developed, contributing to the continuous economic growth of the districts and ensuring political security and stability.
Total import and export turnover through Nam Can International Border Gate reached 9.2 million USD, an increase of more than 30% over the same period in 2018, of which export turnover reached 7.9 million USD, import turnover reached 1.3 million USD; 40 enterprises participated in import and export procedures.
The border market between Ky Son district and Noong Het district, Xieng Khouang province continues to operate once a week on Sundays, providing an opportunity for people of Ky Son and neighboring districts of Laos to exchange, trade and engage in cultural exchange.
Border guards and military forces have coordinated to organize patrols to protect the border and border markers, and to check the national border markers to ensure their original state. Maintained the coordination between Border Guard Stations, border communes with security forces and local authorities to exchange information, grasp the situation, and reach consensus on work between the two sides; coordinated to capture wanted subjects and criminals transporting drugs across the border, and coordinated well in the work of preventing opium replanting.
On the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of Laos and the Lunar New Year of Vietnam, the leaders of the district, the People's Committees of the border communes and the Border Guard forces of both sides, along with the departments and branches of the district, visited to wish a Happy New Year, continuing to maintain and foster the increasingly strong Vietnam - Laos friendship. The border communes of Ky Son have well implemented the contents signed with the hamlets of the Lao districts.

Taking relations to new heights
At the conference, Ky Son district and neighboring Lao districts agreed on the content of coordination work in the coming time, such as promoting propaganda and dissemination of laws for people on both sides of the border to strictly implement the Agreement on Vietnam - Laos national border regulations, the contents agreed upon and signed between the village clusters.
Ky Son district and Muong Quan and Noong Het districts continue to coordinate to request the provincial and central levels of the two countries to soon rebuild landmarks 390 and 410.
The functional forces of the districts coordinate to increase bilateral patrols and exchange information in the fight against crimes, especially crimes against national security, subjects who regularly engage in illegal drug trafficking, and wanted criminals still hiding in Laos.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen control of the trade and transportation of livestock and poultry across the border to prevent the spread of diseases; coordinate in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud and in the fight against opium replanting; direct the hamlet clusters and functional forces on both sides of the border to organize regular, high-quality meetings; and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between hamlet pairs on the border.

Concluding the conference, Comrade Vi Hoe - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Ky Son district and leaders of Lao districts were happy and optimistic about the extensive and effective development of the friendship and cooperation between Ky Son and the border districts of Laos, agreeing that the two sides need to continue to promote cooperation in all fields to bring the relationship to a new level...
