(Baonghean.vn) - Ky Son is a district that suffered heavy damage due to storm No. 4. After nearly 4 days of isolation, households in the communes of Muong Tip, Muong Ai, Ta Ca... have been able to rebuild their houses and stabilize their lives.

After many years of hard work, the house of Mr. Seo Bao Ngum and his wife in Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district, collapsed almost completely after just one night of landslide, all the household items were buried under the mud. With no home, food was soaked by the flood, his family fell into more poverty than ever. Mr. Ngum said that his family had no place to live, and there was also a lack of water because the flood damaged the water pipes from the source.

The three communes of Muong Ai, Muong Tip and Ta Ca (Ky Son) were the most severely damaged by the circulation of storm No. 4. According to initial statistics, in the two communes of Muong Ai and Muong Tip, floods killed 1 person, left 1 person missing, and injured 2 people; 5 houses collapsed completely; 25 houses had to be moved to avoid landslides; landslides flooded 32 households; 04 households with 12 people had to move to the commune People's Committee to live.

On the traffic route through the 3 communes, there are more than 100 serious landslides (mainly National Highway 7B and the border patrol road). Mr. La Van Chanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son district said: To access the communes, currently the only way is to walk by forest road, and walking takes at least 4 - 5 days to reach the commune center.

To help people quickly stabilize their lives, the Nam Can International Border Guard Station and Muong Tip Border Guard Station mobilized all forces, along with local authorities, to help people clean up the environment, clean up their houses and stabilize their lives; and provide food and financial support to households that suffered heavy damage.

Lieutenant Colonel Dau Dinh Thanh - Head of the Nam Can International Border Guard Station said: "We have thoroughly grasped and immediately deployed all measures to prevent and combat storms and floods, and mitigate natural disasters. In addition to sending forces to help schools and people clean up the environment, the unit has provided food such as instant noodles, drinking water and cash to families that suffered heavy damage. Military medical forces have been dispatched to coordinate with localities to quickly examine, treat and prevent epidemics immediately after the water recedes."

The most difficult and also the most necessary thing at this time for households in the mountainous areas of Ky Son district is the source of water for daily life, because most of the rivers and streams in the area are muddy due to floods. Officers and soldiers of Keng Du Border Guard Station helped people in Huoi Phuom 1 and Huoi Phuom 2 villages, Keng Du commune, repair clean water pipes that were washed away by floodwaters.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Son - Head of Keng Du Border Guard Station, for the past 3 days, due to the impact of floods, people in 2 villages, the commune headquarters and agencies and departments have not had clean water for daily activities. In order to help people quickly overcome the consequences and ensure the source of domestic water, the unit directly rented welding machines from Muong Xen town, nearly 100km away, to weld broken water pipes and replace the pipes that could not be repaired.

It is expected that by the end of August 22, people in Huoi Phuom 1 and Huoi Phuom 2 villages, along with the commune headquarters and commune agencies, will have clean water to use.

In addition to mobilizing all officers and soldiers of units to urgently coordinate with localities to help people overcome the severe consequences of natural disasters, the Provincial Border Guard Command has established a working group to go directly to Ky Son, initially supporting 30 million VND in cash, hundreds of boxes of instant noodles, drinking water and military medics coordinating with local health stations to examine, provide medicine and clean the environment to help people.
