Driving cars and motorbikes in the wrong direction is heavily fined.
For the act of going the wrong way on a one-way street or on a road with a no-entry sign, the driver will be heavily fined.

Pursuant to Article 6 of Decree No. 46/2016/ND-CP of the Government issued on May 26, 2016, stipulating penalties for drivers and passengers of motorbikes, mopeds (including electric motorbikes), motorbike-like vehicles and moped-like vehicles violating road traffic rules, as follows:
A fine of between VND 300,000 and VND 400,000 shall be imposed for one of the following violations: i) Entering a prohibited road or prohibited area; going against the direction of a one-way road or going against the direction of a road with a "No entry" sign, except for priority vehicles on emergency missions as prescribed; m) Not complying with the orders or instructions of traffic controllers or traffic inspectors (Clause 4).
In addition to being fined, drivers who commit violations may also be subject to additional penalties such as having their driver's license revoked for 1 to 3 months (Point b, Clause 12).
According to Article 5 of Decree No. 46/2016/ND-CP of the Government issued on May 26, 2016, regulating penalties for drivers and passengers on cars and similar vehicles violating road traffic rules.
Fines from 800,000 to 1,200,000 VND for entering prohibited roads or prohibited areas; going against the direction of a one-way road or going against the direction of a road with a "No entry" sign (except for priority vehicles on emergency missions as prescribed).
According to Point b, Clause 12, Article 5, in addition to being fined, the driver who commits the violation will also be subject to additional penalties such as having his/her driving license revoked for 1 to 3 months.
In case of driving a car in the wrong direction on the highway, according to Point a, Clause 8, Article 5 of Decree 46/2016/ND-CP, the fine will be from 7,000,000 to 8,000,000 VND. According to Point d, Clause 12, Article 5, in addition to the fine, the driver who commits the violation will also be subject to additional penalties such as having his/her driving license revoked for 4 to 6 months.
In summary, according to Decree No. 46/2016/ND-CP, drivers driving in the wrong direction will be fined at the following specific levels:
Motorcyclists driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street will be fined between VND300,000 and VND400,000. In addition to the fine, drivers driving in the wrong direction will also have their driving license revoked for one to three months.
Drivers who enter prohibited roads, prohibited areas, drive in the wrong direction on one-way roads, or drive in the wrong direction on roads with “No entry” signs will be fined from 800,000 to 1,200,000 VND. Drivers who drive in the wrong direction on highways will be fined from 7,000,000 to 8,000,000 VND, and their driving license will be revoked for 4 to 6 months.
