The North-South high-speed railway project through Lam Dong province, with a length of more than 156km, requires the clearance of more than 930 hectares of land, affecting about 1,150 households.

According to the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, the North-South high-speed railway passes through 18 communes and wards in the province, with a total length of more than 156km.

The project includes the construction of two terminals and four maintenance stations. To implement it, the province needs to clear more than 930 hectares of land, with site clearance work scheduled from February 2025 to June 2028.

The project affects approximately 1,150 households, of which 45 households will be relocated to existing residential areas, and the remaining 1,105 households will be relocated to nine new resettlement areas with a total area of 28.5 hectares, providing 1,465 plots of land.

The total cost of constructing the resettlement areas is estimated at about 447 billion VND. The Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board (Project Management Board No. 2) was assigned as the investor of these resettlement areas.

Currently, Lam Dong province has completed the determination of the railway boundary and is urgently building resettlement areas to serve more than 1,100 households that have to be relocated.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested relevant departments, branches and localities to focus resources on implementation, especially preparing for the groundbreaking ceremony of Ham Kiem Resettlement Area. Localities are required to report the review results to the Provincial People's Committee before July 24, 2025.

For the remaining resettlement areas, localities need to quickly inventory land within the project area, develop plans for land acquisition, site clearance, and identify funding sources for implementation. Provincial leaders emphasized the need to strictly manage project land funds, preventing encroachment, illegal tree planting, or illegal construction on project land.

Some localities reported difficulties in the implementation process, such as lack of State land for resettlement areas or lack of specific planning. However, leaders of communes and wards where the project has passed through committed to focus on removing obstacles, speeding up the progress of reviewing, inventorying and developing plans for site clearance as soon as possible.

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee is committed to closely coordinating with central agencies to ensure the progress and quality of the project, while providing maximum support to affected households. The project is expected to be completed soon, bringing an important turning point for the development of the province and the region.
