Nghe An leaders offer incense to commemorate the 77th death anniversary of General Secretary Le Hong Phong

On the morning of August 26 (July 26, the year of the Pig), a delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province offered flowers and incense to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the death of General Secretary Le Hong Phong (July 26, 1942 - July 26, 2019) at the Memorial Area in Hung Thong commune, Hung Nguyen district.

The delegation includes comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Cao Thi Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and comrades leading departments and branches of Nghe An province and Hung Nguyen district.

Comrade Le Hong Phong's real name is Le Huy Doan, born on September 6, 1902 in Dong village, Thong Lang commune, now hamlet 10, Hung Thong commune, Hung Nguyen district. He was enlightened about the revolution early and participated in the patriotic movement of Vinh - Ben Thuy workers.

Comrade Le Hong Phong is an excellent son of Nghe An, one of the most outstanding students of President Ho Chi Minh; he is the second General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

At the age of 40, with more than 20 years of continuous and enthusiastic revolutionary activities, comrade Le Hong Phong has devoted his whole life to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause. His life and revolutionary career will forever be a source of pride and a shining example for many generations.

In a sacred atmosphere, delegates offered flowers and incense to the spirit of General Secretary Le Hong Phong, expressing their respect for his contributions and sacrifices to the revolutionary cause and the struggle for national liberation.

Revolutionary activities of comrade Le Hong Phong:

In 1924, he went to Thailand and then found his way to China. He was admitted to the Tam Tam Xa organization and was selected by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc to attend a special political training class. After that, he was sent to study at many schools such as: Whampoa Military School, Guangzhou Aviation School, Air Force Military Theory School in the Soviet Union...

In March 1935, at the First Congress of the Indochinese Communist Party held in Macau (China), he was elected General Secretary. In July 1935, he led the delegation to attend the Seventh Congress of the Communist International in Moscow and was honored to be elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Communist International.

In November 1937, comrade Le Hong Phong secretly returned to Saigon to work, directly leading the revolutionary movement with the Party Central Committee. On June 22, 1939, he was arrested by the French colonialists in Saigon, sentenced to 6 months in prison, and after completing his term, he was placed under house arrest in his hometown.

In January 1940, comrade Le Hong Phong was arrested for the second time and imprisoned at the Big Prison in Saigon, then exiled to Con Dao. The cruel and savage beatings of the enemy exhausted him and he passed away on September 6, 1942 (July 26, Nham Ngo year).
