On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Ho Duc Phoc informed the working delegation about the general situation of the province. Nghe An is a province with a large area, long border, the 4th largest population in the country, rich mineral resources, and the largest biosphere reserve in Southeast Asia. The cultural and educational fields have achieved many positive results in recent times, with many students winning national and international awards.
The province also focuses on industrial development, applying high technology in agricultural production, promoting cooperation between foreign small and medium enterprises and local farmers to develop agricultural products. With the above conditions, Nghe An is affirming its leading position in the North Central region and striving to become a fairly well-off province in the Northern region by 2020.
Regarding human trafficking in the province, due to the mountainous terrain, with more than 440,000 ethnic minorities living, there are still many limitations in social and legal awareness, many people are often lured and tricked into being sold abroad. However, Nghe An has been fighting strongly against human trafficking, raising awareness among the people, handling many human trafficking cases and prosecuting many defendants. In 2015, the province received and supported 29 victims to return to their hometowns and stabilize their lives.
