Nghe An provincial leaders attend investment cooperation programs in Japan

(Baonghean.vn) - On November 16, continuing the investment, trade and tourism promotion activities in Japan, the delegation of Nghe An province led by comrade Ho Duc Phoc visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, attending the seminar "Experience in measures to promote FDI attraction, increase the effectiveness of Vietnam - Japan investment cooperation".

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan worked with BIDV and leaders of Nghe An and Quang Binh provinces on investment cooperation connection and tourism development promotion.

Mr. Tran Bac Ha, ChairmanBIDV Board of Directors signed a cooperation agreement with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.

Speaking at the seminar, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, thanked Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong and Mr. Tran Bac Ha, Chairman of BIDV Bank for chairing the meaningful seminar, with the participation of many delegates and businesses from Nghe An, Quang Binh provinces and BIDV Bank. Comrade Ho Duc Phoc said that in the past time, regarding ODA, Nghe An province is implementing 04 projects funded by Japan, such as the Northern Irrigation Upgrading Project, Children's Hospital Project, Tourism Development Project, Agricultural Development Project of 4 Western Nghe An Districts, and is currently calling on JICA to fund the Lam River Saltwater Prevention Project. Regarding FDI, Nghe An province currently has 3 Japanese FDI enterprises, however, the scale of the projects is too small, not commensurate with the potential and advantages of Nghe An province.

To contribute to promoting cooperation between Nghe An and Japan in the coming time, Nghe An province hopes that the Ambassador, with his position and prestige, will help Nghe An province attract investment, trade and tourism, specifically: Regarding agriculture, Nghe An province has a large land area, and is in great need of Japanese enterprises to invest and transfer technology in growing and processing tea, sugarcane, vegetables and fruits, improving soil and agricultural environment; regarding vocational training, Nghe An province hopes to form a joint venture, association, and cooperation in training with a vocational school to provide highly skilled workers who are good at Japanese, serving the labor needs of Japanese companies investing in Vietnam as well as businesses in Japan; Regarding minerals, Nghe An province has a great advantage in supplying white stone with a quantity of about 500 million tons... In addition, in 2016, Nghe An province plans to organize a conference to promote Japanese investment in Nghe An, so it is necessary for the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan to support the connection and invite reputable Japanese enterprises with the need to learn about investment in Nghe An to attend this important event.

On the afternoon of November 16, the provincial delegation also visited and worked at the Headquarters of the Bank of Tokyo - Mitsubishi UFJ, Japan. Also attending the meeting were leaders of Hyponica Company, a leading enterprise in clean vegetable growing technology. At the meeting, the two sides discussed the need for cooperation in the field of high-tech agriculture.

On the afternoon of November 16, 2015, the delegation had a very important meeting with the leaders of JICA in Tokyo, Japan. On behalf of the delegation of Nghe An province, comrade Ho Duc Phoc thanked Mr. KIYAMA SHIGERU, Vice President of JICA for taking the time to welcome and work with the delegation, and expressed deep gratitude to JICA for supporting Nghe An province in recent years. JICA's support has brought about positive results, contributing to the construction and socio-economic development of Nghe An province.

Speaking at the working session, comrade Ho Duc Phoc informed Mr. KIYAMA SHIGERU, Vice President of JICA about the implementation of projects in Nghe An in the past time. The programs and projects funded by JICA were well prepared from project survey, implementation organization, monitoring and evaluation... all implemented according to the project schedule, objectives and effectively; highly appreciated by the sponsors, the governing bodies and the beneficiary community.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc thanked Mr. KIYAMA SHIGERU in particular and JICA in general for their support to Nghe An province in the past time, and hoped to continue to receive the support and assistance of Mr. KIYAMA SHIGERU and JICA in the coming time. Based on the results of cooperation between Nghe An province and JICA, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc proposed that JICA consider supporting Nghe An province with the project "Building a system to prevent salinity, retain fresh water and improve the environment on Lam River, Nghe An province" with a total investment of 2,500 billion VND. In which, the loan from JICA Japan is 2,250 billion VND and the counterpart capital is 250 billion VND; Nghe An - Japan Technical Training School Project in Nghe An province, training highly skilled technical personnel to work in Japan or at Japanese enterprises in Vietnam.
