Climbing mountains to pick blackberries to raise funds to help poor children

This season, on the mountains of Nghi Van, sim is ripe, a source of clean, rustic fruit that many people love.

On this occasion, Nghi Van Commune Youth Union organized a fundraising program to pick blackberry, mobilizing union members and youths in the whole commune to take advantage of their days off to go to the mountains to pick blackberry. Each trip had about 40 young people participating in blue uniforms.

Sim trees in Nghi Van forest have existed for a long time, growing abundantly on bare hills and among acacia forests. Throughout Khe Tre mountain, De mountain, Ho Chua mountain… from near to far, wherever there is sim, young people come to pick the fruit.

Because they are familiar with the terrain and with the sim tree, picking sim is not difficult for the local youth union members. Each time they go to the forest, the young people bring back about 100 kg of sim, including ripe and ripe types.

At first, everyone was very worried about selling the SIM cards, planning to sell them in some places in the commune where there were many people passing by, but when the SIM cards were just put online for sale, many people ordered them.

Surprisingly, not only people in the district asked to buy SIM cards, but Nghi Van's children in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also ordered them.

After being picked, the sim was sold out within a few hours at 22,000 VND/kg. It is known that people buy sim to eat fresh and to soak in wine, the demand for sim is still high but the youth union members have not been able to meet it.

Ms. Dang Thi Tam - Secretary of Nghi Van Commune Youth Union said: "Picking blackberries is not difficult and takes advantage of natural fruit resources in the locality to raise funds to help poor students, so the youth are very active. Although it is the first time to launch, the program has brought about very practical meaning and received support from many people. In the coming time, the youth of the commune will continue to raise charity funds to help poor students before the new school year".
