Cheated people into joining the police force, embezzled more than 100 million VND

On June 10, Dong Phu District Police, Binh Phuoc Province prosecuted and temporarily detained Phung Van Linh (29 years old, from Dak Nong) to investigate the crime of Fraudulent appropriation of property.

According to the investigation agency, through acquaintance, in February 2016, Linh "bragged" that he could get the two children of a woman in Dong Phu district to work in the Binh Phuoc Provincial Police under the conscription system.
Trusting him, this woman and her family repeatedly gave Linh a total of more than 113 million VND to "get things done". However, after waiting for a long time without seeing Linh respond, the woman filed a complaint against him for fraud.
At the police station, Linh said that he had no money to spend so he thought of a scam. To make people believe him, he downloaded many forms related to military recruitment into the police force, printed them out, filled in the information himself, and then gave them to the victim.
