The 42nd anniversary of the country's reunification can be seen as a milestone to once again build the common roof of the Front over the past 87 years to become increasingly warmer, more harmonious and more open. In particular, listening to the people and addressing the pressing issues of life is a way for the Front to continue to fulfill its mission of great solidarity.

1.For the poor is not simply a campaign calling on people to support the poor that the Front has carried out over the past 16 years, but is the destination for the Front to contribute with the Party, State, and Government to care for the poor with the aim of creating conditions for the poor to rise up and sustainably reduce poverty.

For a long time, poor households, near-poor households and poor people have always been issues of great concern to the Party and State, but the more society develops, the wider and clearer the gap between rich and poor becomes, and therefore, escaping poverty becomes more difficult.

Remember in the first days of 2017, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized many working delegations to provinces and cities across the country with the hope of bringing a warmer Tet to families of policy beneficiaries, people with revolutionary contributions, especially the poor.

Each poor household has a difficult fate. Listening and sharing with the poor from Hoa Binh, Son La to Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Politburo member, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan always encourages poor households to be optimistic to overcome difficulties and tells them to seek help from the Front if they encounter any difficulties.

The Front is truly oriented towards life, not just the political will to unite. Because besides the responsibility of mobilizing the people at the macro level, in socio-political movements, the Front has been going straight to human problems.

In which, the Front has known how to choose hot spots in life such as monitoring the policies for people with meritorious services - the first time in 40 years that we have been able to do this. Or like calling for, supporting and monitoring support for the Central region people affected by fish deaths due to pollution from Formosa Company in Ha Tinh, the people suffering from drought in the South and Central Highlands, to participating in monitoring and ensuring food safety - declaring war on the "national disaster" of dirty food, monitoring illegal sand and gravel mining, to mobilizing people to participate in effective linkage models to increase income for farmers...

This is the basis for the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to further affirm the Front's determination in the work of building new rural areas and civilized urban areas: not to let any poor household or policy household go without a mass organization to receive support, not to let any people fall into dire circumstances without the Front knowing. The Front will not leave any poor person behind.

2.Father Do Hieu, the Kon Tum Regional Administrator, is a man of few words when talking about himself and the many things he has done over the years, but only when talking about the mission of love of a Catholic does he truly open his heart because he believes that this mission coincides with the mission of the Front.

For Catholics, mercy is very important. The Pope has called on all Catholics to turn to the heart of Jesus to live kindly and mercifully towards those around them. Not only in thought but also in action, sharing food and clothing with the poor.

According to Father Do Hieu, that invitation resonates with the message of the President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan when he came to Kon Tum and said that "we unite in love to have a common goal of how to live prosperously throughout the country, including Catholic compatriots, to become more prosperous and worth living".

That is why, in his role as a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kon Tum province, Father Do Hieu always expressed his opinion that we must make Catholics as well as people of all religions cooperate closely with the government and for that, the government must create favorable conditions for religions to operate. Because if we do not do this, we will only have solidarity on paper but not solidarity in our hearts.

And to do this, Father Do Hieu believes that only the Front is the most worthy bridge. The Front helps religious people speak up and helps the government listen to the voices of religious people.

Therefore, in all circumstances and times, Father Do Hieu always advises Catholics that if they can join the Front, they should join. Because the Front is a place where their voices can be brought to the government about their grievances and what they see and hear.

During the 87 years of formation and development, the Front has not only allowed outstanding individuals and intellectuals to have the opportunity to speak up, but it has also created a place where any citizen can have the opportunity to create a voice. The voice in the Front is the voice of the people.

Remember when leading the Buddhist delegation to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support the people of Central Vietnam affected by storms and floods, Venerable Thich Chan Quang - Deputy Head of the Central Economic and Financial Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, abbot of Phat Quang Pagoda, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province sincerely shared that coming to the Front is like returning home.

Because in his mind, the Front is the common home of all religions, ethnicities, and patriotic Vietnamese people at home and abroad. Anyone with Vietnamese blood in their veins, when thinking about national sentiment, thinks of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Therefore, through the Front, Venerable Thich Chan Quang and Buddhists of Phat Quang Pagoda want to express their love for their country and their compatriots, sending their hearts to the people of Central Vietnam who are facing difficulties.

3.87 years of formation and development, in that process, the Front has united, gathered all national forces and in the common goals of the nation, in patriotic emulation movements. Therefore, the Front is closely attached to the Party. But besides the attachment, companionship, and effective service to the common cause of the nation, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Front still has its own, special and unique position in all those processes.

Therefore, at the 6th Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that any work, big or small, to be successfully carried out, must have solidarity, unanimity, internal consensus, and social consensus; the revolution must build a solid bloc of great unity if it wants to advance.

“The Fatherland Front is a vivid image of the great national unity bloc. The Front needs to proactively contribute opinions to the Party and State in formulating mechanisms and policies, and act as a sharp and sincere critic to help the Party and the Government self-adjust and self-improve to lead and direct better” - General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized and noted that “The Front needs to promote an active role in participating in controlling power and supervising to manage society openly and transparently”.

With that profound awareness, the Action Program of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to implement the Resolution of the 12th Central Committee, Session 4, on strengthening Party building and rectification has been specifically mentioned.

From the General Secretary's perspective: if only the Party and the Government implement the 4th Central Resolution, it cannot be successful. The Front, the people and the press must participate. The Front must use and promote the strengths of the press and the Front must make that strength even better. The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association to launch the National Press Award "Press with the work of fighting against corruption and waste".

After launching, the press has resolutely taken action on a large scale, reflecting deeply and the level of articles published on negativity, corruption, and waste averages over 100 articles/week. The head of the Front frankly stated his point of view, we should not ask where negativity, corruption, and waste are happening, but we should ask whether the corruption and waste phenomena that are happening are reported by the press and the people, but whether the Front is actively taking action or not? "We cannot let the situation where the newspapers publish but the local Fronts do not know anything" - Chairman Nguyen Thien Nhan emphasized and said that if we do not take drastic measures in the next 10 years, negativity, corruption, and waste will be rampant. Therefore, we must not be allowed to not do anything and falter.

All these efforts show that, in addition to listening to what the people say, proactively addressing pressing issues in life is a way for the Front to continue fulfilling its mission of great solidarity.
