The last time Man Utd scored five goals in the Premier League was in the final match of Sir Alex Ferguson's career, a 5-5 draw at West Brom five years ago. Since Ferguson's reign, Man Utd have had five new managers to repeat the feat.
"Changing the general to change the fortunes" is often the choice of teams in crisis. That measure is once again true for Man Utd. The departure of coach Jose Mourinho has more or less brought positive signals for the "Red Devils". The team's shares increased sharply on the New York Stock Exchange. And on the field, they showed performances similar to those of Ferguson's time.
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used the old framework left by Mourinho, with the trio of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard in attack. All three left their mark with goals. In which, Rashford scored in the third minute with a free kick that sent the ball into a curve, causing goalkeeper Neil Etheridge to misjudge the direction.

The visitors continued to attack with short balls, with the attacking players playing spontaneously. In the 29th minute, Paul Pogba opened the ball up, creating an open long-range shot for Ander Herrera. The Spanish midfielder's shot hit the Cardiff defender and changed direction, forcing goalkeeper Etheridge to give up.
The home side pulled one back in the 38th minute with a controversial penalty. The ball appeared to have missed Rashford's hand in the penalty area, but referee Michael Oliver still blew the whistle. From 11 metres, Victor Camarasa's dangerous shot defeated David de Gea.
But that was the only highlight for the club that is avoiding relegation. Just three minutes later, Man Utd restored the two-goal lead with some beautiful passing. Martial initiated the attack with a pass into the middle for Pogba. The French midfielder took a touch and let Lingard act as a wall for Martial to break through. The 23-year-old striker did not miss the opportunity to face off and finish into the far corner. The goal made Man Utd fans exclaim onlineReddit: "It's not clear if it's Man Utd or Barca". In the VIP stands, the Glazer owners were visibly pleased.

The second half started with the visitors in control, but they did not give up on their goal. In the 57th minute, Lingard performed solo in the penalty area and won a penalty. The 26-year-old midfielder took the responsibility for the penalty kick and did not miss the opportunity to get his name on the scoresheet.
The Man Utd players did not hide their intention to score a fifth goal. In the 63rd minute, center-back Victor Lindelof broke through the middle and passed the ball to Rashford to beat the offside trap. But the English striker's shot missed the goal by a hair. Seven minutes later, Pogba curled the ball from outside the box and forced Etheridge to save.
Man Utd's efforts were rewarded in injury time, when Pogba passed the ball to Lingard to get past the Filipino goalkeeper, sealing a 5-1 victory. The Man Utd coaching staff all left their seats to celebrate the goal. Perhaps Solskjaer and his colleagues understood that the "Red Devils" had waited too long for a fifth goal in a match.

Man Utd failed to improve their position after three points in Wales. They remain sixth, but have reduced the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea to nine points. The Red Devils next play at home to Huddersfield on December 26.
