Lost 600 million VND because of 'opening a card' for online dating 'One night stand'
Recently, on the social network Telegram, "Online dating services" continue to appear. However, to be able to "date", participants must fulfill many requests created by the subjects to become members of the online dating service via the Telegram application.
In June 2023, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Hanoi City Police received a complaint from Mr. T (born in 1973) about being scammed of more than 600 million VND. According to the complaint, Mr. T was invited to join the "One Night Stand" group. After providing his living area, Mr. T was sent a list of "girls", the Club's price list and asked to open a Dating Card for "girls" to serve him. After registering an account, Mr. T was asked to authenticate to complete the task, receive a "commission" by accessing the link and paying according to the system's instructions.

Mr. T chose the service package, paid, performed the tasks and successfully received the "commission". The system continued to "guide" him to perform the next tasks to receive the "commission". When performing the task and depositing a large amount of money into the system, the system notified "incorrect data, account locked", the member must pay more money to restore the data and unlock the account. If he paid more money, he would be granted a dating membership card. However, after transferring more money, the subjects still reported the error and gave many reasons to lure participants to deposit more money many times with increasingly higher values to appropriate. Within just 2 days, Mr. T transferred more than 600 million VND into the subjects' accounts.
The Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, Hanoi City Police, recommends that people be vigilant and inform their relatives and friends about the tricks of this type of crime. When encountering such cases, people must immediately report to the nearest police agency for handling according to the provisions of the law.
