Sau, 3 and a half years old, is the son of Ms. Tra Nguyen (businesswoman, born in 1991). Sau can recognize and name objects, animals... in daily life, and communicates with his mother in English. He also likes to watch cartoons entirely in this language.
Not only did Sau stop at chatting with his mother, he also confidently spoke English with foreign children. One day, Sau was taken by his mother to the playground - where many foreign children were also playing. After playing for a while, Sau became less shy and started chatting with his friends. While playing with his friends, he said: "I came here first", with the wish that the first person to arrive would play first. When his friends invited each other to play the role of heroes, Sau loudly shouted out the character he wanted to play: "I am spider man". When his friends nudged him lightly, he turned around and said in English: "Mommy, I am hurt" so that his friends would understand that he was telling his mother.

When he grows up, he can read documents online and discover new ways to learn new languages... The important thing is that when he learns while playing, it will be easier for him to absorb and he won't need to spend much time learning English later."

Talking about her child's English learning process, Tra Nguyen revealed that Sau listened to English songs with cheerful melodies from the age of 2-3 months. When her child was 15 months old and had awareness of the world around her, the 9X mother let her child listen to more English songs, she sang, danced with her child, and used body language to express the song. "When playing the songHead, shoulders, knees & toes,I will point to the corresponding body parts for the child to understand. For the songIf you happy and you know, I show my emotions on my face. I do clapping and stomping movements when my child listens to songs.Clap your hands, Stomp your feetThanks to this activity, my child really likes it, imitates me and naturally understands the meaning of those words," she said.
When Sau had a certain amount of vocabulary, Tra started talking to her child in English in all daily activities, applying real-life situations so that she could easily visualize and understand. When Sau turned 3 years old, the 9X mother let her child learn more English using English teaching applications for native children, letting her child read and repeat stories. She was allowed to use an iPad to learn, but not more than 30 minutes a day so as not to affect her eyes. "Repeating stories helps children imitate the pronunciation of native speakers. However, many times this does not create interest for children. Therefore, I will explain phrases that my child does not understand, compete to see who can read louder, read more quietly, or simply pause that activity for 1-2 days before continuing," the 9X mother revealed.
Tra Nguyen does not consider herself teaching her child a foreign language, but rather a companion to her child. "Because, in the process of learning English with my child, I learn many new things. Because I do not consider myself teaching my child, I do not feel pressured about whether my child can learn or not. Therefore, my child absorbs English naturally and happily," she said. While accompanying her child, Tra Nguyen often introduces him to topics he likes, such as dinosaurs and sharks.
"My family's learning policy can be summed up in the phrase 'Fun is the main thing'. To help children acquire foreign languages, learning needs to be fun so that they are interested, choosing according to their interests, not applying stereotypes. I think any mother can do it with patience," she added.
