Mother passed away while selling porridge for hire, 2 Nghe An children orphaned with no place to stay
(Baonghean.vn) - Born without a father, mother died of a serious illness, 2 orphaned children became helpless and had no place to depend on. That is the pitiful situation of Bui Tan Loc's siblings in hamlet 1, Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan district.
We were at Loc’s house on a day in early October. The house at the beginning of the village was still shrouded in an atmosphere of grief. Loc and his brother, their heads wrapped in white mourning bands, seemed to add to the pain of loss.
Under a makeshift tarpaulin in the yard, relatives were coming to pay their respects. Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Hong - Loc's grandparents - were comforting their little grandchild while talking about their daughter's family situation with tears streaming down their faces.

In 2005, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (born in 1978), the eldest daughter of Mr. Nguyen Thi Hoa, followed her friends to Binh Duong to do business and fell in love with a man in the same situation. She thought that in the new land she would build a happy family life, but unexpectedly, after she gave birth to her first child (born in 2007), the couple broke up before they could get married.
Two years later, Ms. Hoa brought her child back to her hometown in humiliation and hardship. After living with her parents for a while, her maternal relatives built her a house on her paternal grandparents' land to live in.
Because she could not do heavy work, she opened a small grocery store in front of her house to sell, hoping to earn some extra money to buy rice to feed her children. However, the store became less and less crowded, the capital gradually ran out, and she had to close the store.

In 2018, she had a second child. After giving birth, her health was very weak because she had many diseases such as heart disease, goiter, lung disease, etc. However, to earn money to support her parents and cover the cost of raising her child, she had to try to sell porridge at night for hire at a shop in Nam Dan town. On the night of September 18, while working, she fell ill and collapsed on the spot. People around her rushed her to Nam Dan District General Hospital for emergency treatment, but she had passed away when they arrived.
“That night it was pouring rain, I heard the phone call that Loc’s mother had passed away on the way to the hospital, I was completely numb. For a long time, I had advised my son not to work anymore because his health was poor, but he still went. He said he had to go to earn more milk for his grandchild. Unexpectedly, in a moment, he was gone, my heart ached,” Mr. Hong sadly recounted.

Ms. Hoa passed away at a young age, leaving behind two young children. Bui Tan Loc was in 7th grade at Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School, and Tran Van Thanh Dat was less than 2 years old and just learning to babble.
Loc felt the pain of losing his mother, the emptiness of love in the sad and lonely house. Every time he came home from school, or every time he stood in front of his mother's altar at night, he cried and called "Mom Hoa". Dat was too young to understand the pain of losing his mother, so he only cried and called for his mother when he was hungry or hungry.
When Hoa's two children were born, they did not know their father and did not receive the love and care from their father like other children. Now that their beloved mother has passed away, the pain has multiplied. In a moment, her two children, who were growing up, suddenly became orphans with no place to go.
Since the day their daughter passed away, Mr. Hong and Mrs. Cuc - the children's grandparents - left their family in hamlet 7 to go to hamlet 1 to take care of their grandchildren and burn incense for their daughter.
Mrs. Ha Thi Cuc hugged her granddaughter and said in tears: “It is so painful, my daughter passed away suddenly, without being able to leave any last words to her relatives and children. It is a loss for me to die, but my two children are still too young…”.
Looking at the mourning scarves wrapped around the heads of the orphans, I feel sorry for the unfortunate mother who passed away too soon and even more sorry for her young children. There are so many concerns for adults and the community when thinking about the future of the children.
Talking about the situation of Bui Tan Loc and his siblings, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Thuyen - head of hamlet 1, Nam Thai commune shared: "Hoa's family is in a difficult situation, her mother sells porridge for hire to raise her two children. Now that Hoa has passed away, the children are orphans with no place to depend on. The future life of the two children is very much in need of the community's help."
