The sour part of the cake will no longer have the delicious taste of normal banh chung so it needs to be cut off. However, if eaten, it will not be poisonous because in fact, this is just the process of fermenting alcohol and then turning alcohol into acid, without creating toxins that are dangerous to health.
If the banh chung has been left for a long time and is moldy, then you should throw it away!
