(Baonghean.vn) - According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, in one school year, there were nearly 1,600 incidents of students fighting in and out of school nationwide.

On the afternoon of April 4, nearly 400 students and teachers of Nghi Xa Secondary School (Nghi Loc District) participated in a Communication session on Prevention of abuse, school violence, and skills for safe use of social networks organized by the Women's Union, the Population and Family Planning Committee, and the Justice Committee in coordination with Nghi Xa Secondary School.
School violence is receiving attention from families and schools, becoming a concern for the whole society. At the media session, Ms. Doan Thi Thuy Chung - teacher of Huynh Thuc Khang High School - guest of the program said that school violence is an act of infringement on the life, property, health, spirit, reputation and honor of the victim in the school environment. The cause can come from the family, school and society.

According to Ms. Chung, in Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training has recorded that in a school year, there are nearly 1,600 cases of students fighting in and out of school nationwide (about 5 cases/day). For every 5,200 students, there is 1 case of fighting; for every 11,000 students, 1 student is forced to leave school because of fighting; for every 9 schools, 1 school has students fighting.
More worryingly, according to statistics from the Ministry of Public Security, more than 1,000 teenagers commit crimes each month. The above figures are just the tip of the iceberg, Ms. Chung frankly said when talking about the current situation of school violence.

Present at the media session, Ms. Le Hoa, teacher of Nghi Xa Secondary School, shared that to limit school violence, the first thing is to have the cooperation of three parties: family, school and society. Family is also the most important foundation and each parent must be the foundation of moral education for students. Next, the school and teachers must be good examples, educate and guide students well, thereby limiting violence in schools.

At the nearly 2-hour media session, students of Nghi Xa Secondary School were not only informed about the issue of school violence but also about sex education to prevent sexual abuse and skills to use social networks safely.
